Western Point is worth siding with at a big price albeit well backed this morning. The key to this horse is plenty of cut underfoot and following 15mm of overnight rain the ground is officially soft to heavy. Two seasons ago Western Point finished a head second in this race to a rejuvenated Folsom Blue. Today, he races from a 2lb higher mark of 116 which looks fair even though he is a better chaser. Over fences he has done very well reaching a mark of 146! Philip Enright rides and is one of the most underestimated riders in Ireland presently as he is more than capable against the best of the Irish jockeys. Western Point is a 10 year old but following a pipe opener at Galway over a trip too short he should be ready to run a much better race today up to three miles on testing ground.
