Out Sam fell in the Cork national which is uncharacteristic for this horse at the 7th fence. The year previously he had won the Cork National over 3m4f on yielding ground. This horse finished fourth in a Thyestes Chase behind Invitation Only so which is very good handicap form. He loves soft ground and a trip which is what he gets today. Davy Russell rides and Gordon Elliott is going well with his string. A weight of 10-12 and a rating of 136 might not be enough to prevent Out Sam getting back to winning ways.

Apples Jade is trying to win this Grade 1 Hattons Grace hurdle for the fourth time in a row. She is a superstar mare and I think people have over reacted to her loss to Bacardys at Navan on her seasonal debut. On racing post ratings she ran to only 3lbs below how she ran the previous season when winning on good ground. At Navan the last day the ground was soft/heavy and most likely she got caught out for fitness albeit her trainer has stated publically he was expecting better. This race will have been the main target and having proven herself top class here over the past three years she should be backed at a good price this morning.  She is allowed her 7lb mares allowance today unlike at Navan against Bacardys which is a big plus. Honeysuckle could be the new start mare arriving here unbeaten but taking a big jump in class. The percentage call is to back Apples Jade and what a reception she will recieve if she can make it back to the winners circle.

Lakeinmilan looks to have had his hurdling mark protected for this valuable handicap following an excellent run at the Listowel harvest festival . At Listowel he found some traffic trouble up the straight, nothing major but had to be switched and then picked up very well to hit the line hard. The winner David’s Charm franked that form big time when going on to win a Grade 3 hurdle race at Tipperary. Terence O’Brien kept Lakeinmilan busy since Listowel with two flat runs and a spin over fences. Our selection is race fit and ready to go reverting back to hurdles carrying 10-5 and his jockeys’ claim reducing that weight by a further 3lbs. Kevin Brouder rides today and is a very talanted claiming jockey. I looked up his record riding for Terence O’Brien and it is impressive with 3 wins from 7 rides.
