Advised FRIDAY NIGHT 24TH JANUARY

Racecourse: Cheltenham
Time: 13:15
Date: 25/01/2020
Horse: Cloudy Glen
Current Odds: 15/2 Ladbrokes else 7/1 generally
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1/2 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Cloudy Glen relishes soft and heavy going not surprisingly as a son of Cloudings. He got his chasing career back on course with an easy win at Haydock having fell at Market Rasen under a claiming jockey. He should go well here with more chasing experience (4 runs) than many of his challengers. Venetia Williams will want to see a big run off a mark of 132 as he needs to go up a good few pounds to make the novices handicap chase at the festival if good enough. Charlie Deutsch rides and this trip on soft ground around the new course should suit and take getting. A weight of 10-11 is ideal on soft ground against fellow novice chasers.

Racecourse: Cheltenham
Time: 15:00
Date: 25/01/2020
Horse: Harry Senior
Current Odds: 9/2 Bet365 & Boylesports else 4/1 generally
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1/2 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

While respecting King Roland I think the market has underestimated Harry Senior. He proved last time out at Chepstow that he stays well on testing ground which is a question King Roland still has to answer. Two runs ago Harry Senior made Edwardstone pulls out all the stops to beat him at Aintree over two miles one furlong both pulling clear of the third. Edwardstone franked the form when unfortunate not to win a Grade 2 at Haydock having passed Thebannerkingrebel who tired quickly setting up the race for the closing Stolen Silver. This is a good race in which I think the value lies with Harry Senior ridden by Robbie Power.

Racecourse: Doncaster
Time: 15:15
Date: 25/01/2020
Horse: Quarenta
Current Odds: 15/2 William Hill 4 places else 7/1 Paddy Power & Betfair SB both 5 places
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1/2 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Quarenta did us proud at Kempton over Christmas when just failing to beat Just A Sting. He might have won but for getting the second last fence wrong losing valuable momentum at the business end of the race. Following that mistake he still looked to have a great chance if meeting the last fence on a good stride but was slightly impeded as Highway One O One wondered around in front of him. That effort proved Quarenta is capable at this handicap level once he gets cut in the ground. It will be plenty soft enough at Doncaster despite the official good to soft going description. The handicapper raised him 4lbs for his recent defeat to a mark of 139 which is fair enough. This more galloping course will suit and he remains unexposed as a chaser. Chidswell and Monbeg River were of interest but need to bounce back to their best after some poor runs. There are just the 14 runners so hopefully they all run or else the extra bookie place concessions will be reduced.
