Selection Reasoning:
The Wokingham Stakes is one of the feature sprint handicaps of the flat season with a maximum field of 28 runners. The ground should be good come Saturday evening and that is good news regarding the chances of Tis Marvellous and Hey Jonesy. Gunmetal, Summerghand & Intisaab were on the final shortlist but just missed out.
Tis Marvellous has proven course form having placed fourth in this race last season off a 2lb lower mark. Trainer Clive Cox will have had his eye on this race all season for Tis Marvellous who caught the eye on his first run of the season at Listed level over this trip at Doncaster. That Doncaster listed race was won by Invincible Army with Major Jumbo runner up and Equilateral third. All three of those horses have run very well subsequently at Group level especially the first two named who finished in the same order in the Group 2 Duke of York stakes. Tis Marvellous finished just over 3 lengths behind Invincible Army now rated 120 off level weights which was really good.
A couple of nice runs since without winning has seen the handicapper drop Tis Marvellous 3lbs giving him a proper shot at winning this handicap. Adam Kirby is class jockey who knows how to win on the big occasions. Tis Marvellous is well drawn in stall 13 with the pace middle to high.

Hey Jonesy
Current Odds:
16/1 generally, look for bookies paying 6 places, use BOG bookies

Selection Reasoning:
Hey Jonesy is a Group horse in a handicap having been highly campaigned at pattern level as a 3yo. He ran a cracked in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup last year beaten just 2 lengths by Eqtidaar with subsequent Group 1 winner Sands Of Mali runner up. Hey Jonesy showed his liking for this course and adaptability ground wise when third to Projection over course and distance on soft ground on Champions Day having jumped slowly from the stalls.
This season he showed plenty of ability when runner up at Chelmsford to Group horse Dream Of Dreams on his first run following wind surgery. He backed up that run with a good effort running fifth in the Group 2 Duke of York Stakes behind Invincible Army and Major Jumbo who are both very quick horses. In fact Major Jumbo placed third in the Wokingham last season when drawn away from the pace and is trained by Kevin Ryan similar to Hey Jonesy. Kevin Stott keeps the ride on Hey Jonesy who drops in class from pattern level and can get the job done.
