Selection Reasoning:
We backed Carole’s Destrier in the Grand National trial at Haydock but he was pulled up having lost all momentum due to a faller (The Two Amigos) in front of him. It was much too soon to know how he would have fared but to that point he was going well within himself. This race represents a drop back in class having run very well at Warwick placing fourth in the Classic Chase. Carole’s Destrier is on good terms with himself recently and won over course and distance three starts ago under Robbie Dunne. He races tomorrow from a 2lb higher mark and must have a good chance of being there or thereabouts at the finish.

Selection Reasoning:
Philip Hobbs enjoys a good record with this runners at Newbury and War Sound can help uphold that good course record. We need to forgive him both his recent Cheltenham runs but that can be done as his jumping was found out a bit around Cheltenham. War Sound will appreciate running on this flat track and we only have to go back to November where he won a very valuable handicap by 6l to see his true ability. The handicapper has dropped him 3lbs since raising him 7lbs for his Aintree win. War Sound will not mind if the rain arrives and has a good weight of 11-1 to carry. This looks his ideal trip and with the champion jockey riding we are always in with a good chance.
