Strong challenge by Ryan's Forza
Following Epsom Derby weekend the action is not quite as high on quality this Saturday.
Thankfully, Haydock provide a decent card and some good betting opportunities.
Kevin Ryan has retained his faith in Forza Orta who ran better than his 7th place finish in a similar handicap at the York Dante meeting. He was pushed forward from a wide draw in stall 10 and just raced a bit too freely not saving enough petrol for the finish. Rowan Scott wasn’t hard on the horse once his winning chance had gone and that ride can pay dividends for connections here. Cam Hardie takes over riding duties with fast ground and a low draw in stall 3 a big help. Last season he won over 1m4f on fast ground at York from a pound lower mark so he is handicapped to win carrying a feather weight of 8-4.
Of the rest I think Onesmoothoperator ran well last time out finishing off his race strongly. The concern with him is the trip could be on the sharp side and he has yet to win on turf. Get Shirty is the class horse in the race and drops into handicap company having run at Group 2 level recently. He does have to get away lumps of weight which is never easy and is drawn in stall 10.
