King to Crown Rosebery Handicap Victory
A cracking result in the Irish Grand National with Intense Raffles wining and Front Assault placing fourth.
We switch to flat racing tomorrow at Kempton with Kelso off due to waterlogging. Storm Kathleen is due to hit Ireland tomorrow so it is touch and go if racing at the Curragh proceeds.
Youthful King has run two big races of late in defeat over 10 furlongs around Lingfield. He has been held up at the back of the field and even swung wide off the finishing turn to come home with a rattle only to find the finishing post coming too soon on both occasions. The extra furlong of this race over 1m3f with a long 3f finishing straight look sure to suit Youthful King. He remains well treated on his current mark of 90 with 7lb claimer Ethan Jones booked. Ethan rode him well at Lingfield last weekend and with his claim Youthful King carries a low weight of 8-4. He ran too freely here over 1m4f in January and is settling better now that he is ridden more patiently.
Of the other 13 runners it is obvious enough that the John Gosden and Hollie Doyle mount Intinso is bang in form off the back of an easy win three weeks ago at Wolverhampton.

The Rosebery Handicap is a flat handicap horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Kempton Park over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlong and 219 yards (2,212 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late March or early April. It was switched to Kempton's newly opened all-weather track in 2006. The distance was increased from 10 furlongs to the current 11 furlongs in 2007.
The race was run on Easter Monday prior to 2003, changing to Easter Saturday until 2006. It is now usually run at a Saturday meeting held either side of Easter, on the same day as the Magnolia Stakes.
