A cracking finish by Our Power under Sam Twiston-Davies to win at Kempton last weekend.

Today, there are only four runners in the premier handicap chase at kelso so we focus on the 16 runner Morebattle Hurdler earlier on the same card.

There are three Irish raiders in the Morebattle Hurdle with the Emmett Mullins 142 rated 4yo Mctigue very short at 7/2! Emmett Mullins and owner Paul Byrne have a well earned reputation and won this race with The Shunter two in 2021 before going winning a 100k bonus for winning any race at the Cheltenham Festival. The Shunter was 8yo and it’s not as easy with a juvenile hurdler.

Instead, we back the Lorna Fowler trained Colonel Mustard. He is just short of top class as a hurdler and has the size to carry 11-11 with Kieran Buckley claiming 3lbs. Colonel Mustard is reverting to hurdles following two chase runs and races from a mark of 143. In nine runs over hurdles, he has only once failed to hit the top four and that happened at the Aintree Festival last season when not seeing out 2m4f. This race is easier than the county hurdle at Cheltenham and he only found State Man and First Street too good last season

Kelso 1:50

1 point each way Colonel Mustard 6/1 Skybet 6 places else 13/2 Boylesports, Coral, Ladbrokes & Bet365, all 5 places.

Best of Luck, Nicky
