We focus on the Coral Sprint Trophy (3.50 York) today with DANZENO and AIR RAID are the pair to keep on your side.
Danzeno is deservedly top weight having run consistently well throughout the season. He tested the waters at Listed level over five furlongs last week and was certainly not out of his depth finishing a close third to Dakota Gold at Ascot. Before that he chased home the same horse over this track and trip. That was on fastish ground but Mick Appleby's eight year old is well proven on soft ground which he will certainly get here.
Six furlongs is his best trip too having won four times over that distance. This easy six at York will suit and Theo Ladd takes off 5 lbs. which will in fact make Danzeno well handicapped in this Class 2 Sprint.
The Jedd O'Keeffe trained Air Raid loves soft ground, indeed four of his five career wins have come when these was some juice in the ground. He clearly likes Hamilton and has won three times at the Scottish track this season. He travelled well up front there in July when scoring over this trip on soft ground. The runner up was Lake Volta who had previously finished fifth in the Bunbury Cup.
Granted Air Raid failed to fire in the Stewards Cup but he can be forgiven that as it was good to firm ground. He goes particularly well for Jack Garrity and the combination can go mighty close arriving fresh after a break. Plenty more with chances of course as we might expect and Hey Jonesy has good track and trip form but seems to have gone off the boil a bit.
Gunmetal showed signs of a badly needed return to form when second at Ripon last time, while Bernardo O'Reilly catches the eye near the bottom of the handicap. Growl, Gulliver and Aplomb all come here in decent form but Danzeno and Air Raid are the duo to focus on.
