Desert Crown was an impressive Derby winner last weekend for Sir Michael Stoute. There is only three days until Royal Ascot so it is rather quiet on the Group race side of things this weekend. Nevertheless, we do have a 100k 3yo sprint handicap at york. A competitive race with 19 declared to run. This sprint was won in the past by Twilight Son who went onto Group 1 victory so it takes a good one to win this ultra competitive race.

I’ve tried my best to find a bigger priced alternative however, Ingra Tor is the likeliest winner. The form of his Newmarket win at the end of April has been franked by lots of horses in behind. We backed the second placed Harry Three to win at Newmarket over 6f off a 2lb higher mark than when over two lengths behind Ingra Tor. They meet again today with Ingra Tor just a pound worse off on their meeting at Newmarket.

Trainer Mick Channon has kept Ingra Tor off the track since his Newmarket win to protect his revised handicap mark of 91 for this valuable heritage handicap. That is a big pointer and the form of Ingra Tor’s neck second to Nationwide at Kempton looks strong with Nationwide wining twice since they met. Ingra Tor is nicely drawn in stall 11 as strangle this season so far the middle to high numbers have dominated on the sprint course at York instead of the low numbers. This son of Churchill travels well and quickened clear at Newmarket like a pattern class horse. The drying ground is good news and if Ingra Tor turns up at all he should at least be in the frame at the finish.
