Advised Wednesday Morning 29th July

Racecourse: Goodwood
Time: 13:45
Date: 29/07/2020
Horse: Oleg
Current Odds: 15/2 Paddy Power & Betfair SB, both paying 5 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Oleg finished full of running when getting up on the line at Pontefract. That race was over 2m1f and he powered through the line like a horse who is going to improve the further he goes. Champion jumps trainer Paul Nicholls has booked Hollie Doyle to ride. Middleham Park racing landed this race last year with Timoshenko and look to have another unexposed stayer in Oleg to do to war with rated 82 and carrying just 8-2.

Racecourse: Goodwood
Time: 2:15
Date: 29/07/2020
Horse: Win O'Clock
Current Odds: 9/2 Skybet paying 4 places else 9/2 Bet365 & 888sport both just 3 places, all BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Win O’Clock showed a good turn of foot when winning at Leicester a few weeks ago under today’s jockey Thomas Greatrex. Previously, he couldn’t get out for a run at Ascot in the King George V stakes not beaten far in the end under Hollie Doyle. Win O’Clock settled much better at Leicester than at Ascot so hopefully the penny has dropped with him going out in trip again. Goodwood is an easier course than Ascot and he has to carry only 8-4 on his back thanks to his claiming jockey. There are loads of unexposed types in this race but our selections runs consistently well and has good form already in the book.

Racecourse: Goodwood
Time: 16:20
Date: 29/07/2020
Horse: Zhui Feng
Current Odds: 12/1 Skybet paying 6 places else 12/1 generally look for bookies paying 5 places, all BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Zhui Feng is worth chancing at a big price with a great draw in stall 3. He loves to go forward and it is a positive having Jim Crowley back in the saddle. Jim rode Zhui Feng at Newmarket in June where he ran well finishing fourth behind Bells Rock. We all saw how well Bells Rock ran in the big handicap yesterday. Zhui Feng will be suit be the drop to Class 3 and shorter distance of 7 furlongs. Last season he was racing in the top mile handicaps from a handicap mark of 101 and is down to 90 this afternoon. He likes Goodwood as he showed when finishing third in a big handicap here last season over course and distance rated 98. The handicapper is giving this “old boy” a proper chance as it is over two years since his last victory.

Racecourse: Galway
Time: 17:15
Date: 29/07/2020
Horse: Morga
Current Odds: 40/1 Paddy Power, Betfair SB, Unibet, Betfred & Betway, all paying 5 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

I am taking on the top two well backed market leaders and chancing the experienced mare Morga. She can put all her experience to good use here off her lowest hurdling career handicap mark of 114. Simon Torrens claims a further 7lbs from her back leaving a featherweight of 10-6. There is rain due tomorrow afternoon but it is hard to see the ground being worse than yielding which is fine. Morga ran well here last October on soft ground when fourth and was running in hot waters when down the field at Fairyhouse in a race won by Janadil from Buildmeupbuttercup. She runs well at Galway and two seasons ago finished four lengths behind Off You Go who is a very good hurdler. Morga is nearing the breeding paddocks but might just have one last hurrah over hurdles following a good pipe opener at the Curragh in a 1m6f premier handicap. The bookies are offering an extra place so she is value even if the outsider of the field!

Racecourse: Galway
Time: 18:45
Date: 29/07/2020
Horse: Wonder Laish
Current Odds: 13/2 William Hill & Skybet, both paying 6 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

The Galway hurdle is a very prestigious race to win in Ireland. Over the past few years with Guinness as generous sponsors the prize money has grown and grown with the winner last year taking home €177k. This year the prize money has dropped down but is still a mighty €118k putting the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in the shade. All the big trainers target this valuable race where a horse that travels, jumps and has a good turn of foot is required.

Charles Byrnes is a master big race planner and it is a bit surprising he has never managed to win a Galway hurdle. This might be his lucky year as Wonder Laish is a proper horse who showed his well-being at Tipperary when running a tidy race behind Aramon. Injury has seen him only race twice since running up a big handicap double in 2018. He beat last years Galway hurdle winner Tudor City giving the runner up 7lbs in a Grade A handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse. Wonder Laish remains unexposed from a mark of 144 on just his 7th hurdling start. Robbie Power is a fantastic sub jockey with the usual rider Davy Russell riding for Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown House. Wonder Laish has a nice weight of 10-13 and the softer it goes the better his chance come Thursday Evening.
