Selection Reasoning:

History Writer ran very well last weekend at Sandown when third to Lush Life who came over the top to win. History Writer is a pound well in tomorrow as his new official handicap mark is 92. The extra half furlong should help him along with the stiff climb to the line. Trainer David Menuisier is enjoying a good run with his horses having won twice from seven runners the last 14 days. Jason Watson is putting his hand up strongly to make the leap from champion apprentice to top professional and is a very talented jockey full of confidence. This course is tricky as you know with the chamber but if handling the course this looks a solid winning opportunity for History Writer.

Mountain Angel

Selection Reasoning:

This race was narrowed down to Borodin, Mountain Angel and Elector. Borodin has never run over 10 furlongs so was struck off the shortlist. Course form and winning form swung the vote to the higher priced Mountain Angel for Roger Varian who trained the winner last season. Mountain Angel is a consistent horse who is proven over this trip and can overcome a 5lb hike in the weights for beating Aquarium in April. He is a very solid each way bet with 11 runners declared.

Peach Tree

Current Odds:

33/1 Betfred & Totesport else 28/1 Skybet, all paying 4 places, use BOG bookies

Selection Reasoning:

Peach Tree is overpriced and can get involved in the finish of the Oaks. She finished fourth behind Tarnawa in a listed race over 10f at Naas three weeks ago but will come on significantly for that run. Last year she readily held Tarnawa over a mile at Naas in a listed race when ridden by Donnacha O’Brien. Donnacha is back in the saddle tomorrow and is at the top of Coolmore jockey list alongside Ryan Moore. Maqsad was of interest but has stamina to prove while Pink Dogwood won at Navan this season but looks very short around 3/1. Mehdaayih won a trial race at Chester in very taking fashion albeit on good to soft ground showing a real turn of foot. She deserves to be favourite and is the one they all have to beat. However, she is short running against unexposed fillies over a tricky course and I’d much prefer to get the overpriced Peach Tree onside.
