Selection Reasoning:
The Last Emperor is worth chancing here at a big price. There are some stamina questions around the favourite Ming who tried 1m4f for the first time while Sea the Lion is having his first run since finishing third in the Ebor Handicap last summer with a 7lb claimer booked to ride. I thought The Last Emperor ran well at Navan on his first flat run since switching from Roger Varian to Emmett Mullins yard. He was slow away at Navan but travelled into the race nicely before getting tired a furlong from home. The furlong drop back to 1m4f should suit along with the drying ground. Emmett has booked a good 7lb claimer in Nathan Crosse and with the handicapper dropping him 2lbs since Navan he carries 9lbs less today affecting off 78. Last season he ran well without winning at Sandown and Nottingham off ratings of 83 & 87 so he should go well today in this valuable handicap wearing a first time tongue tie.

Advised Stake & Bet Type

Name of Horse to Back
Duke Of Firenze
Current Odds:
12/1 William Hill 5 places else 12/1 Bet365, Betvictor and Betway all 4 places, use BOG bookies

Selection Reasoning:
I’m backing Duke Of Firenze who won nicely at York in May and remains only a pound higher than Dark Shot who finished runner up on that occasion. At Epsom Duke Of Firenze got no run up the stands rail but flew home when finally in the clear but all too late. He’s ran on soft ground at Doncaster finishing second but will enjoy the drying ground as the temperature rockets today. His rating of 90 is good with 8-11 to carry and there should be a proper strong pace in this race thanks to El Astronaute, Just Glamorous and Hathiq setting the race up for a closer. Phil Dennis is back in the plate having won on Duke of Firenze at York.
