Advised Sunday Morning 5th July

Racecourse: Sandown
Time: 13:50
Date: 05/07/2020
Horse: Maid In India
Current Odds: 8/1 Coral, Betvictor & Bet365, all BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Maid In India ran out of steam on her first run of the season at Haydock finishing third beaten only one length by Liberty Beach. That winner went on to finish third in the Kings Stands stakes at Royal Ascot with Tis Marvellous in behind. Maid In India drops in trip to the five furlongs which looks her best trip as she travelled really well at Haydock until tiring late. Last season she won twice over 5 furlongs on heavy and good to firm ground holding Dakota Gold at bay in Newbury. Good ground will suit her better than fast ground with Martin Harley retaining the ride.

Racecourse: Sandown
Time: 15:00
Date: 05/07/2020
Horse: Via Serpendipity
Current Odds: 16/1 Bet365, Betvictor, Paddy Power & Betfair SB, all BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Via Serpendipity is the best handicapped horse in this race if returning to form. He did well on the all-weather last winter winning handicaps from a rating of 104 and 105. His turf rating had dropped from a high of 98 down to today’s mark of 88. Via Serpendipity has good course form from two seasons ago when winning and finishing third over course and distance. Hollie Doyle takes the ride and he arrives here a fresher horse than the Royal Hunt Cup first and second placed Dark Vision and Monthatham.

Racecourse: Haydock
Time: 14:05
Date: 05/07/2020
Horse: Favourite Moon
Current Odds: 5/2 William Hill else 9/4 generally
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1.0 Point Win
Selection Reasoning

Favourite Moon has his run blocked at Doncaster when coming to win his race. The progeny of his sire Sea The Moon love cut in the ground so the official soft going is no issue. Favourite Moon stayed on powerfully at Doncaster even after his run was checked showing that there was plenty of juice in the tank so to speak. Cieran Fallon claims 3lbs leaving Favourite Moon a pound better off than when he last ran. This race represents a step up in class but on the positive side he has a low weight of 8-1 to carry and weight plays more of a role in staying races especially on soft ground. Despite being favourite I think Favourite Moon has every chance of winning.

Racecourse: Cork
Time: 17:45
Date: 05/07/2020
Horse: Tandem
Current Odds: 20/1 Paddy Power, Betfair SB, Boylesports, Unibet & Betfred, all paying 5 places, use BOG bookies
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Tandem is getting on but well handicapped on a mark of 87. He ran encouragingly over a shorter trip at Gowran Park under inexperienced 10lb claimer at Gowran Park. Tandem was rated in the 100’s in his prime and in the nineties just last season. Oisin Orr takes over riding duties and is a strong rider which is just the job for Tandem. Two years ago, Tandem went close to winning this race behind Sea The Lion rated 100 with Oisin claiming 5lbs. It is a big ask to roll back the years’, however he finished off his race well at Gowran Park over shorter and will appreciate going out in trip. At a big price and with several of these runners returning from a break it is worth chancing Tandem to get involved in the finish of this valuable premier handicap.
