Advised SUNDAY MORNING 2ND FEBRUARY

Racecourse: Leopardstown
Time: 14:30
Date: 02/02/2020
Horse: Gran Geste
Current Odds: 12/1 Skybet & Betfred else 11/1 Paddy Power & Betfair SB, all four paying 6 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Gran Geste is much better off at the weights this time against The Jam Man who won a similar valuable staying handicap hurdle at Navan before Christmas. Gran Geste stayed on well that day to claim third spot on his first attempt at 3m with the race distance that day 3m and a half furlong. The handicapper raised Gran Geste 3lbs while the winner was hit with an 11lb hike. The runner up that day Tout Est Permis gave the form a good look when finishing fourth over course and distance at the Christmas meeting. Gran Geste skipped running since Navan and arrives here fresh and well with Mark Walsh booked to ride.

Racecourse: Leopardstown
Time: 14:30
Date: 02/02/2020
Horse: The Jam Man
Current Odds: 16/1 Coral & Ladbrokes both 5 places else 14/1 Skybet paying 6 places, use BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

The Jam Man was mentioned above as his form ties in with Gran Geste and Tout Est Permis. This horse is the apple of his trainers eye and Ronan can expect him to go close today having run well at Cheltenham on New Years Day when a few small things went against him. Firstly, he can race off his Irish mark of 139 which is 5lbs below what the English handicapper rated him. It was his first run at Cheltenham and that course is unique and takes knowing. His victory at Navan over 3m1/2f was very good especially as he was not fully match fit that day. He has plenty of stamina and will enjoy a true run race such is his high cruising speed. The booking of 5lb claimer Barry Browne helps reduce weight carried to 10-12 leaving him effectivaly only 3lbs worse off agasint Gran Geste.

Racecourse: Leopardstown
Time: 16:00
Date: 02/02/2020
Horse: Minella Times
Current Odds: 20/1 Boylesports, Betvictor & Ladbrokes, all paying 5 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1/2 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Minella Times was beaten by a very good horse in Sumos Novios in a valuable handicap chase at Limerick. That was his second run in Grade B handicap chases having won at Navan over two and a half miles on soft ground. He overjumped the final fence at Limerick which cost him a couple of lenghts but wouldn’t have beaten the winner. Hugh Morgan rides claiming 7lbs leaving just 9-10 to be carried. Henry De Bromhead is enjoying a tremendous season and his horses are bang in form with both Notebook and Honeysuckle winning Grade 1’s yesterday. Minella Times is having his seventh chase start and can progress further this afternoon.

Racecourse: Leopardstown
Time: 16:00
Date: 02/02/2020
Horse: Robin Des Foret
Current Odds: 15/2 Paddy Power & Betfair 6 places else 15/2 generally look for at least 5 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1/2 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Robin Des Foret ran a big race in the Paddy Power handicap over Christmas under a top ride by Derek O’Connor. He just failed to see out the trip but was delivered on cue over the final fence only to run out of steam. Previous to that run he showed up well at Cheltenham when third in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup. It will be tough work carrying 11-7 but we know our selection in in good form and relatively fresh having his third run of the season. Paul Townend rides and this trip of 2m5f on watered ground is ideal.
