Advised Saturday Morning 4th July

Racecourse: Epsom
Time: 15:00
Date: 04/07/2020
Horse: Johnny Drama
Current Odds: 11/2 Paddy Power & Betfair SB both 5 places elese 6/1 William Hill & Coral both paying 4 places
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Johnny Drama blows a bit hot and cold but he sure has his best conditions today. Ten furlongs is his best trip and he has proven adaptable on undulating courses having performed well at Goodwood last summer. In that Goodwood festival handicap he totally blew the start from stall 1 and came up the middle closing all the way to the line on rain softened ground. The ground went against him at Royal Ascot as well as the trip possible being too far. Today, the ground should remain on the good side and he is nicely drawn in stall 8. A first time tongue tie is tried and he should run a good race in receipt of 5lbs from the favourite Desert Icon. ** update Desert Icon is a non runner with self cert (not eaten up) .

Racecourse: Epsom
Time: 15:40
Date: 04/07/2020
Horse: Frankly Darling
Current Odds: 7/4 Paddy Power, Betfair SB, Unibet & William Hill, use BOG bookies
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 1.0 Point Win
Selection Reasoning

Frankly Darling looked special when winning the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes (Group 2) on her third career start. She did so well to see out the mile and a half trip having pulled quite hard for the first furlong and more! The turn of foot she showed to quicken clear of the field up the straight was impressive with Frankie only giving her one slap of the whip. She won comfortably from Ennistymon with Passion back in third. There is no logical reason why those two Ballydoyle fillies should turn over that form and it is Love who is the big danger. She won the 1000 guineas easily but the second and third in the 1000 guineas were put in their place behind Alpine Star in the Coronation Stakes at Ascot. Love might stay the extra half a mile but it remains a question mark while we know Frankly Darling stays a mile and a half well. Frankly Darling is well drawn in stall 3 the same stall number that has produced the previous two Epsom Oaks winners. If Frankie can settle Frankly Darling then she has huge upside to improve and land this prize.

Racecourse: Epsom
Time: 16:55
Date: 04/07/2020
Horse: Max Vega
Current Odds: 40/1 William Hill, Coral & Ladbrokes, all paying 4 places with latter two B.O.G.
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Max Vega is overpriced on a line of from through Berkshire Rocco. English Channel is favourite with Frankie Dettori booked to ride and beat Berkshire Rocco by just short of 3l in the recent Lingfield Derby trial. However, last season at Newmarket in a Group 3 our selection Max Vega finished just short of 4l ahead of Berkshire Rocco over 1m2f on soft ground. The form is solid as Berkshire Rocco was beaten at Ascot by Santiago who went onto land the Irish Derby last weekend. Max Vega finished fifth on his only run this season with Pyledriver ahead in second place at Kempton. Pyledriver franked the form with a Group 2 Royal Ascot victory. However, he is a big horse and might not handle Epsom as well as Max Vega who is just average sized. We can forgive Max Vega his defeat at Kempton as trainer Ralph Beckett had been slow to get winners following the racing restart. His string is going much better now and Max Vega will enjoy going back on turf and out in trip to 1m4f. The more rain that falls the better it will suit as stamina will not be an issue for Max Vega. Stamina is a concern for Newmarket guineas winner Kameko and Irish guineas runner up Vatican City on breeding.

Racecourse: Epsom
Time: 17:35
Date: 04/07/2020
Horse: Markazi
Current Odds: 12/1 generally & most bookies paying 4 places, use BOG bookies
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Markazi has proven difficult to win with since joining the David O’Meara yard during the summer of 2018. He cost a tidy sum and why when winning at Ayr last September over this trip easily for Danny Tudhope. He won that day from a rating of 84 so is 4lbs higher but really it is a case of it this horse is in the mood! I think Epsom will suit as an easy course where he can race prominently and hopefully run up to his best. Last time out over a mile they rode him out the back and he made up ground impressively before his run flattened out near the finish. James Doyle is a positive booking and his draw in stall 7 should be fine if he can break fast.
