Advised SATUrday Morning 27th June

Racecourse: Newcastle
Time: 13:15
Date: 27/06/2020
Horse: Staxton
Current Odds: 5/1 generally, most bookies paying 4 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Staxton won here last season off a 5lb higher mark so if in similar form could be very hard to beat. He carried 9-12 to victory last season and has just 8-8 on his back today. He ran fine on his first run of the season at Newmarket behind Tinto and should step forward markedly for that pipe opener.

Racecourse: Newcastle
Time: 15:35
Date: 27/06/2020
Horse: Rainbow Dreamer
Current Odds: 7/1 Paddy Power, Betfair SB & Skybet, all three paying 6 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Alan King is enjoying a tremendous run on the flat this month having won three races at the Royal Meeting. He trained the winner of the Northumberland Plate last season with Who Dares Wins and looks to have another good chance with his sole runner Rainbow Dreamer. Rainbow Dreamer loves the all weather surfaces and was aiming for five wins in a row when placing fourth in the re-arranged Group 3 Sagaro Stakes here three weeks ago. That was a promising run off a break against Gold Cup contenders. This renewal is not as deep as last year with the prize money on offer almost 70k less to the winner. The result of a congested racing programme since racing returned this month and less prize money is that the bottom weight is rated 84 this year compared to 96 last season! Rainbow Dreamer is proven on the surface, course and trip so should be bang there or thereabouts at the finish.

Racecourse: Newmarket
Time: 14:40
Date: 27/06/2020
Horse: Mubatism
Current Odds: 7/1 in places, use BOG bookies
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Charlie Appleby runs a well-matched pair in Mubatism and On The Warpath. The score is one all on meetings last season but this time off level weights it is Mubatism who is preferred. Last seen in February at Riyadh where he was caught late by surprise winner Dark Power. This easy 7 furlongs will suit and hopefully there is not too much rain to keep the ground on the good to firm side. James Doyle rides and our selection has younger legs than both Limato and Sir Dancealot who are higher rated.

Racecourse: Curragh
Time: 17:45
Date: 27/06/2020
Horse: Broad Street
Current Odds: 10/1 Bet365 3 places else 9/1 Coral paying 4 places, both BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Broad Street is worth backing to exact revenge on Bowerman who finished 2.5l in front when winning the Irish Lincolnshire. On that occasion Bowerman got a lovely split up the rail while Broad Street had to sit and summer before getting a clear run. The winner Bowerman had flown but I was impressed by how Broad Street picked up to claim third place, closing all the way to the line. This time round at Listed level our selection is 7lbs better off with Bowerman which gives him every chance of reversing placings. Padraig Beggy has been booked to ride and if the ground does ease further than good that will not be an issue for Broad Street.

Racecourse: Curragh
Time: 18:15
Date: 27/06/2020
Horse: Tommy Taylor
Current Odds: 16/1 William Hill 5 places else 14/1 Betvictor, Coral, Labrokes & Bet365 all 4 places
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Tommy Taylor has run consistently well since joining Johnny Levins from the Kevin Ryan yard. He goes on most ground types and today’s trip of 7 furlongs is ideal. He ran well back on turf at Gowran Park on 11th June when runner up to Bucky Larson, dead heating with Royal Highness. Donagh O’Connor claims off 3lbs and this locally trained horse looks to have a good chance carrying 8-12. Ice Cold Alex was on the short list but is too short a price in what is an extremely competitive premier handicap.

Racecourse: Curragh
Time: 19:15
Date: 27/06/2020
Horse: Fiscal Rules
Current Odds: 8/1 Paddy Power, Betfair SB, Boylesports & William Hill, all paying 4 places with first three all BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Fiscal Rules is very lightly raced with huge scope for improvement. He finished runner up to Wichita beaten a head on his debut. Witchita went close to winning the Newmarket 2000 guineas this season so that is top class form. Fiscal Rules ran in the Irish 2000 guineas and ran a cracker for just his second course run finishing fifth beaten 4l by Siskin. He lacked the speed to go with the unbeaten Siskin but gave a strong impression that he will stay much further. There is stamina on the dam side who won over a mile and half and is by Galileo. The favourite Santiago ran at Royal Ascot where second over 1m6f and that was just eight days ago. The Coolmore and O’Brien trained runners hold a strong hand but if any trainer knows what is required it is Jim Bolger!
