Selection Reasoning:
Dream Du Grand Val didn’t put up much of a show when down the field in the Imperial Cup over course and distance. We forgive this French Bred and take it that he will be much more at home on the good ground. Nicky Henderson rates him quite highly and he did win two on the bounce before coming unstuck last time out. Nico De Boinville takes the ride and he is in receipt of 11lbs from Getaway Trump at the top of the weights.

Selection Reasoning:
Rock The Kasbah was ridden out the back from the start of the Aintree Grand National but encountered fallers on more than one occasion and ultimately paid the price as he was brought down by faller Jury Duty on the second circuit. If none the worse and he did gallop on at Aintree then he can go one better and gain revenge on Step Back who beat him well here last season. Step Back was thrown in off a mark of 135 last season and this time round is not in such good form and is now rated 145. Rock The Kasbah has 11-4 to carry which is above the magic 11 stone mark but I’m still keen to back him with the ground to suit and the trip not an issue. He paid the price somewhat last year as he was the only horse capable of going with Step Back from three out showing his class. This season he had been a little in and out but did win very impressively at Cheltenham in November over 3m3f on good ground. He has twice run very well in this race so hopefully it is third time lucky for this classy chaser under the Champion Jockey.

Selection Reasoning:
The Young Master has been in great form this season winning twice around Cheltenham and placing third in the Kim Muir chase despite not jumping as well as he can. The jumping at the festival might have been down to the softer than ideal ground and he was pulled up on soft at Newbury in December. The ground tomorrow will be quick and good at worse so that is a massive positive for this in form horse who won this race in 2016 off a 6lb higher mark. Sam Whaley-Cohen is booked to ride so he must expect a big run on this proven course and distance winner. Including Sam’s 3lb claim The Young Master will have only 10-5 on his back. I think he has a massive chance and is only ten years old and kept fresh for this race following his Cheltenham Festival effort.

Selection Reasoning:
David O’Meara stuck two years ago with Intisaab when ridden with two others down the far side. He is drawn low again in stall 5 so it will be interesting to see if they split into two groups. Intisaab is the class horse in the race and ran well on his first start in Meydan before dissapointing thereafter. Freshened up with this race as an early season target we can expect a much improved performance here. 6 furlongs is his trip and he was won twice and finished runner up from four runs at Ripon. Let’s hope he is on a going day with plenty in his favour.
