Racecourse: Navan
Time: 17:40

Horse: Stanhope
Current Odds: 7/1 Ladbrokes else 13/2 generally, use BOG bookies
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Stanhope ran well on his first run in several months at the Curragh last weekend. He ran in the Rockingham handicap which is a premier handicap and fiercely competitive as usual. Stanhope was sandwiched after a few furlongs as Cityman crossed over and was taken back by jockey Rory Cleary. It was early in the race but nevertheless Stanhope lost some momentum and ran on well to finish seventh in the end. Today’s race represents a drop in grade being a 50-80 rated sprint. Stanhope just gets in rated 80 carrying top weight of 10-2. Drawn well from stall 2 he should go well if not bouncing on his second run for new trainer John McConnell. Stanhope beat True Blue Moon off his current mark of 80 last summer so is on a decent handicap mark.

Horse: Sacramento
Current Odds: 13/2 Coral else 6/1 Ladbrokes, Betvictor & Boylesports, all BOG

Selection Reasoning

A premier handicap run over 10 furlongs on soft ground with plenty of showers around today. I like the Sacramento representing the inform Joseph O’Brien stables. Share Crosse rides and is great value for his 3lb claim which he is working through quickly. Sacramento has form running on soft ground at the backend of 2019. His best run was when chasing home a good horse in Sunchart at Tipperary over 9 furlongs on soft to heavy ground. Delphi finished in behind that day showing some quirky tendencies and is not a horse I would like to put the house on despite his recent win at the Curragh. Sacramento should stay this trip well and is worth backing to win this decent pot.

Horse: Tauran Shaman
Current Odds: 15/2 Coral 5 places else 7/1 generally, look for bookies paying 5 places & BOG
Advised Stake & Bet Type: 0.5 Point Each Way
Selection Reasoning

Tauran Shaman was heavily backed to win the Irish Lincolnshire when finishing seventh behind Bowerman. He travelled kindly for Shane Foley at the Curragh but lacked the speed to quicken at the business end. That run points to Tauran Shaman enjoying going out in trip by two furlongs. He was aimed at a Group 2 race last October so is highly regarding by trainer Jessie Harrington. Patrick Sarsfield looked very good winning oh so easily at Leopardstown over a furlong shorter. The handicapper has hit him with a ratings rise of 15lbs which will make life difficult as well as a ride in class. The favourite is worth taking on and while Halimi is sure to run well it is Tauran Shaman that looks to have the most potential off his current mark.
