STOUTE TAKES AIM AT LONDON GOLD CUP
The Lockinge meeting at Newbury is dominated by small fields and clear favourites. It looks a particularly difficult card this year to find value each way bets!
Palace Pier should win the Lockinge Stakes and little surprise to see him odds on to pick up his second win of the season. We target the London Gold Cup where our selection was strongly backed yesterday from an each way price of 9/2 into clear favourite. Nevertheless, he looks the horse to back and if you can get 3/1 I would advise backing him to win.
Bay Bridge impressed when winning easily at Newcastle over 1m2f without his jockey PJ McDonald having to pull his whip. This son of New Bay looks an improved performer now they have upped him to middle distances. Ryan Moore takes over riding duties for his past boss Sir Michael Moore. The London Gold Cup is one of the best 3yo handicaps of the season and will throw up plenty of future winners. Bay Bridge is rated 90 carrying 8-10 and looks ahead of the handicapper. The big problem is that everyone else likes Bay Bridge and he has been backed in from an each-way price of 9/2 to less than 3/1! Nevertheless, if you want to back a horse in the London Gold Cup then Bay Bridge is the likeliest winner.
