MYSTEREE can solve the puzzle of the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter on Saturday.
While the dramatic happenings at Cheltenham clearly dominated events yesterday, the money, the milk and honey, for next Saturday's big race was all on Mysteree right across the board, and the 12/1 still chalked up by Bet 365 makes big each way appeal.
A close second in this race to Catch The Spud two years ago, he is very much a Spring horse. So while his three early season runs this term were absolutely nothing to write home about, it was no surprise to see Michael Scudamore's runner show massive improvement in the Eider Chase at Newcastle recently.
He went mighty close there, beaten just a neck by Crosspark and quick compensation awaits now. As we might expect it's a very competitive affair, and Dawson City is another who made a dramatic return to form recently, Polly Gundry's runner backed from 12/1 to "sixes" when scooting home in the Devon National at Exeter.
Gordon Elliott has a few entries and while Its All Guesswork looks by far the most interesting of these he really thrives on fast ground so the Meath trainer may seek other targets for a horse who is owned, like Presenting Percy, by Philip Reynolds.
Mrs Parfois and Arthur's Gift are clearly major players, Ballydine has been consistently nibbled at in the ante-post market, but yesterday all the betting buzz for this Uttoxeter showpiece was for Mysteree and it's time to get on board.
