The Sky Bet Ebor at York (3.40) is hard to resist today and RAHEEN HOUSE and TRUE SELF are two strong contenders, one deservedly near the top of the market, the other a juicy price after a rare disappointing effort last time.

RAHEEN HOUSE is one of those high class horses whose connections simply couldn’t resist the magnetic appeal of the staggering prizemoney on offer for this tricky handicap. A major plus is that he loves this track as he won his maiden here and ran two crackers here this summer in high class contests, a Group 3 and a Listed.

The handicapper raised him 2 lbs. for his narrow neck defeat to Red Verdon last time out where Jamie Spencer left him with a lot to do. Weekender – second in this race last year – finished behind that day which certainly advertised the form in relation to this contest. William Haggas has booked that superb big race pilot James Doyle for this and they are drawn in stall nine.

Raheen House is the class act here, a pattern class horse who has won twice and been placed four times in Class 1 races.

This race has been the target of True Self all season, and she arrives here after a light campaign of just three races. She ran below par at Leopardstown last time, where drawn very wide she ran quite free and seemed out of sorts a bit. At the end of last season she beat Air Pilot over ten furlongs at Newmarket where she fairly left them for dead in the closing stages.

The handicapper was clearly impressed and gave her a mark of 110. This season she kicked off in style when landing the Vintage Tipple Stakes, a Listed race at her local track Gowran Park. While generally ground versatile, she found a very soft surface at Haydock difficult to deal when beaten by Klassique in a Group 3 contest. Irish Champion Jockey Donnacha O’Brien takes over from Colin Keane who is required by his boss Ger Lyons on Mustajeer who was fourth in this race last year and clearly commands respect once more.

Willie Mullins has said that he would love fast ground for True Self today and it looks like his prayers may be answered in that regard. This is only her seventh start on the flat so she is possibly still relatively unexposed, and stamina is certainly not an issue. When Mullins targets a race from a long way out he often hits the bulls-eye and True Self should go mighty close.

His other runner Max Dynamite is a class act on his day and while he has disappointed at the jumping game, his flat form is very solid and he won a minor contest over this trip last time out at Killarney and will love the ground. King’s Advice – even with a 4 lbs. penalty – Baghdad and Weekender are others to note in this red hot affair, but Raheen House and True Self are the pair to concentrate on.
