Proven Sandown Form Can Help Win Small Fortune

Golan Fortune was a huge 33/1 winner for the Bet Alchemist main service at the Cheltenham November Meeting.

Sam Lee rode him claiming 7lbs that day and he hit the front plenty early, so it just showed how genuine a horse Golan Fortune is to gamely rally up the infamous Cheltenham hill. That win was Golan Fortunes second run back off an extended break. Wisely his trainer Phil Middleton has given the horse plenty of time to arrive here fresh and well. We know already that he enjoys Sandown Park having won over 2m4f as well as finishing runner up to Grade 1 horse Topofthegame in this race two seasons ago.

The handicapper has Golan Fortune rated 139 tomorrow which is only 2lbs above the rating he raced from when beaten a length and a half by Topofthegame. Soft ground is fine and Tommie O’Brien claims a valuable 5lbs leaving the horse carrying 10-10. He raced quite freely when winning at Cheltenham so if Tommie can get him settled early he can go very close. Ask Ben was interesting bringing top handicap form to the race but has never raced right handed!
