Only Three Miles Not Forty in Skybet Chase

Quarenta ran a cracker at Kempton over Christmas when just failing to beat Just A Sting.

He might have won but for getting the second last fence wrong losing valuable momentum at the business end of the race. Following that mistake Quarentae still looked to have a great chance if meeting the last fence on a good stride but was slightly impeded as Highway One O One wondered around in front of him. That run proved Quarenta is capable at this high handicap level once he gets cut in the ground.

It will be plenty soft enough at Doncaster despite the official good to soft going description. The handicapper raised him 4lbs for his Kempton defeat to a mark of 139 which is fair enough. This more galloping course will suit and he remains unexposed as a chaser. Chidswell and Monbeg River were of interest but need to bounce back to their best after some poor runs. Monbeg River goes well fresh and finished runner up here last season off a 5lb higher mark. The safer option is to back an improving chaser with his best days ahead arriving off the back of a career best run.
