Old Timers Ready For One Last Dance!

A big Happy New Year to you and welcome to 2021!

The Veteran's Chase Final has become a staple for the start of each new year. A cracking initiative with excellent prize money and well supported with all of 16 runners lining up this afternoon.

We back two against the field with one near the top of the weights while the other is at the foot of the weights.

Crosspark is running as well as ever this season having finished second three times. The handicapper has raised him 6lbs since the season began but on the positive side he is thriving with racing. Last time out he stayed on strongly in the London National just failing to beat Doing Fine. Stamina will not be an issue and this race should prove less competitive than racing in open company. Harry Skelton rides and is high on confidence following plenty of winning rides this Christmas. Crosspark carries 11-10 which will be hard work but has just turned 11yo so is younger than several of these.

This is going to be a major stamina test and it is difficult to believe the ground will not ride heavy following so much rain this past month. Regal Flow is a dour stayer who loves heavy ground and runs well at Sandown. He finished a short head second to Jepeck last year and runs off a 3lb lower mark this time round. While Jepeck has shown little this season, Regal Flow has run two nice races and looks primed for today. His latest run in the London National was good so he arrives here in good form with a feather weight of 9-11 on his back.
