Naqeeb to come good in John Smith’s Cup
The John Smith’s Cup Heritage Hanidcap is a cracking race with 18 runners declared.
It’s high summer weather and the ground is going to be quick at York this afternoon. We back a classy horse trained locally in Norton.
Naqeeb is worth another chance dropping down a furlong and a half in trip. He caught the eye travelling well here over 1m4f on fast ground in May. He has run well twice at Haydock and Royal Ascot of late. A fast pace over this distance could well prove the key to Naqeeb. He is two pounds well in for this race following his excellent third place finish in the Duke of Edinburgh stakes at Royal Ascot.
The main dangers are those near the top of a correct looking betting market. William Haggas runs the unexposed strong favourite Archivist. Course form looks an advantage for See That Storm while Hand of God could well return to his best with a favourable low draw.
