Lincoln Signals Flat is Back!

The Flat turf returns in the UK this afternoon at Doncaster. The big players are over in Dubai on World Cup Night but we just cannot resist a big field handicap!

The ground is good which is most unusual for this time of year so fingers crossed connections go ahead and run their charges with some showers forecast.

Danyah represents the 4yo generation but also his recently deceased owner Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It would be a great if this son of Invincible Spirit could win here for trainer Owen Burrows and all those connected to Shadwell Estate. Danyah has the form to go close if progressing from his 3yo campaign. He started the shortened 2020 turf season with a victory here over 7 furlongs on good to soft ground. The handicapper raised him 10lbs and he bombed out at Newbury behind River Nymph so that run is best ignored. It was his latter two runs of the season that showed much more promise. At Ripon he met all sorts of trouble in running when third to Hortzadar over a mile on soft ground. Danyah made up for his unlucky Ripon run with a strong win at Haydock over a mile when beating Alternative Face by a length and a half. He races from a mark of 98 today but is progressive and goes well fresh having won twice on both his first runs of the season.

Ouzo is a 5yo but well hardened having raced mainly in similar mile handicaps all last season. He was unfortunate not to win at Newmarket last June when run down late by Bells Rock having gone clear for jockey Ryan Moore. Thereafter, he ran solid races at Royal Ascot and York’s Ebor meeting just outside the frame on both occasions. Richard Hannon tried Ouzo over ten furlongs at Newbury in the Free Handicap but could never get involved from out the back over a trip too far. He made it count when winning at York in October back over a mile on soft ground. Ouzo goes on any ground and has a telling turn of foot which could prove dangerous here if the pace is not too harsh. He carries a weight of 9-2 which is fine and is ridden by Sean Levey from stall 16.
