Jack Channon Charge Primed For Great St Wilfrid
The Great St Wilfrid handicap at Ripon is our target this Saturday.
A large field of 18 runners compete for the £51,540 first prize.
I was going to side with Summerghand and Dare To Hope but not a chance with both heading the betting market. They are hold up horses that require luck in running on a front runner course! If they were 10’s or higher then maybe but I am happy to look elsewhere for better value. The Jack Channon trained Ingra Tor is drawn low and can go forward or take a lead from Radio Goo Goo who likes to lead.
Ingra Tor has been in good form of late finishing third twice at Doncaster and Yarmouth. I think Ripon and quick ground can help Ingra Tor run through the line and finish off his race strongly. In my opinion he is a winner in waiting over 6f on quick ground off his current rating of 83.
Robert Cowell has campaigned Emperor Spirit over five furlongs only this season so far. This horse won over six furlongs at Lingfield last season as well as finishing a neck second to Raatea on fast ground at Doncaster. A rating of 89 looks fair as he just failed to win at Ascot last month over their stiff five furlongs when beaten a head by Albasheer.
In thirteen turf runs he has failed to win but that doesn’t tell the full story. Out of those thirteen runs, Emperor Spirit has finished second seven times and not beaten far. Rob Hornby rides and with 8-12 on his back I can see Emperor Spirit out running his big odds if on a going day.
Ripon 3:20

0.5 point each way Emperor Spirit 25/1 Skybet 7 places else 25/1 William Hill, 6 places.
