The John Of Gaunt Stakes (Group 3) looks the best race in the UK this Saturday. There are lots of 2yo and unexposed 3yo races best watched with a view towards Royal Ascot. The Epsom Oaks and Derby meeting next weekend along with the 5 Day Royal Meeting leave us with a rather quiet weekend on the racing front. It sure will pick up pace from here on and we hope for a better result today than the strange ride given to Jawwaal at York last Saturday weaving all over the course to find trouble in running!

A competitive renewal of the John Of Gaunt Stakes with eight runners declared. I was taken by the performance of Winter Power winning easily last time out on fast ground at Leicester. He quickened clear of Path of Thunder like a good horse should. Kinross can win first time out but might prefer softer going and is worth taking on today with Pogo sure to set a strong pace. In the Lennox stakes at the Qatar Goodwood festival last season Kinross beat Happy Power by just a half length. Pogo should give Happy Power a strong lead in this race and hopefully he will settle and sustain his run through the finishing line. David Probert rides Happy Power and couldn't be in better form. He rode a hat trick of winners here last Saturday including a Group 2 win on King's Lynn in the queens colours.
