GULLIVER TO MAKE AMENDS IN SCURRY!

The temperatures are red hot this weekend so time to try win a few quid to pay for the ice cream and beers LOL.

We leave the UK action alone and head to the Curragh in Ireland for the Scurry handicap on Irish Oaks day.

Gulliver ran a cracker in the Wokingham Stakes when leading a half furlong out only to get collared near the line. That race is as competitive a spring handicap you will find any season and we know the 3yo winner Rohaan is a Group 2 class horse at the very least. The better ground will help today and Gavin Ryan is back riding again. In this race last year Gavin rode when a 5lb claimer and didn’t really do anything wrong when quickening clear only to get run down on the line by Romantic Proposal. That form is strong as Romantic Proposal has won a listed race at the Curragh in June. Gulliver raced off a mark of 103 last season so looks nicely treated on 99 today. If Gulliver runs to his best, he is the horse they all must beat.

Speak In Colours is so well treated that I am backing him ahead of Fastnet Crown who landed a touch for us recently. Speak in Colours goes well at this course and is a Group 2 and 3 winner dropping down into handicap company. He has not really fired this season so far but hopefully first-time blinkers will rejuvenate his appetite for the game. The handicapper has helped dropping him down from a mark of 110 to 103. Joseph O’Brien has put up Mikey Sheehy claiming off a further 5lbs leaving Speak In Colours affectively running off a mark of 98 carrying 9-5. He is drawn low in stall 2 which is close to the market leaders Marbling, Master Matt & Gulliver. This is a big chance for Speak in Colours to land a nice pot.
