GOOD TIMES AHEAD IN GOLD CUP

The Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at the Cheltenham International meeting is our feature race this afternoon.

Coole Cody is aiming to double up having won the latest Paddy Power Gold Cup at the November meeting. However, he is sure to have stiff competition on the front end today thanks to Master Tommytucker and Cepage so we look elsewhere for the winner.

Good Boy Bobby and Al Dancer represent local based trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies. Of that pair I feel Good Boy Bobby is the better handicapped horse carrying 11-1 which is 8lbs less than his reliable stablemate. Our selection was well beaten by Master Tommytucker at Haydock over 2m5.5f on soft ground. Last season he was beaten by Mister Fisher over course and distance at this meeting. That run was an excellent effort giving 5lbs to Mister Fisher who won the Grade 2 Peterborough chase yesterday and is considered a Grade 1 horse. Good Boy Bobby remains on a mark of 146 and is a good jumper who races prominently. Coole Cody and Master Tommytucker will make this a true run race so Daryll Jacob can sit in behind and hopefully come home strong. Master Tommytucker has a big engine, but this undulating course will be a big test of his jumping.

Windsor Avenue runs in his first handicap chase. He is highly regarded be trainer Brian Ellison and ran twice in Grade 2 novices chases last season. He failed to stay three miles and fell when most likely held by Sam Brown at Haydock over 2m4f on heavy ground. A wind op over the summer looks to have helped Windsor Avenue as he stayed on well over 2m4f at Carlisle on heavy ground when beaten two and a half lengths by Imperial Aura. That is excellent form with that winner Imperial Aura, winning a Grade 2 chase at Ascot and currently rated 163. Windsor Avenue stays this trip well on soft ground and this will turn into a stamina test with Coole Cody and Master Tommytucker not going to hang about. Windsor Avenue carries 11-3 which is not too high and remains unexposed on his sixth run over fences. Champion jockey Brian hughes knows the horse well and he should go close with a clear round.
