Good Time in Bective Stud Handicap Hurdle

A change of plan this morning due to the Becher Chase meeting at Aintree off! High winds from Storm Darragh proving too risky to host that meeting.

We switch to a competitive listed staying hurdle race at Navan in Ireland. 21 runners go to post over 3m1f battling it out for the €59,000 winners prize.

Good Time Jonny gave us a big win when landing the Cheltenham Festival Pertemps hurdle final in 2023. He spent all last season over fences and just isn’t a natural over the bigger obstacles. He should be fit and ready for this race following a run on the flat and two over fences since September. A hurdle handicap mark of 136 looks fine as he won the Pertemps rated 142. Tony has booked 7lbs claimer Josh Williamson, son of former champion jockey Norman Williamson. Josh is a tidy jockey and excellent value for his 7lb claim which allows Good Time Jonny to carry 11 stone.

Oscars Brother won a listed hurdle race at Cork over an extended three miles last month. The ground was good that day, but he is proven on heavy ground as he won at Limerick easily over three miles in March. He is a strong stayer, and it doesn’t make sense that he is a much bigger price that the Willie Mullins trained Paggane, who was behind at Cork. Connor King is relatively new to the Irish trainer ranks with the former jockey giving his brother Daniel King the ride. It’s his first run in a handicap and I think he will run a big race.
