What a Cheltenham Festival from Day 1 right through to yesterday. Constitution Hill & Galopin Des Champs are generational greats already! The best roar was for Honeysuckle who won the mares for Trainer Henry De Bromhead whose familiy has endured a torred year. Well done to all concerned with the horses above.

Our own tipping service hit the jackpot with 66/1 winner Faivoir yesterday. That was one of five winners througout the festival backed up with some big priced placed runners. The other 4 winners were Angels Dawn at 7/1, Good Thyme Jonny at 12/1, The Real Whacker at 11/2, Corach Rambler at 10/1. A profit of +47.41 points won over the four days. Remember who to have onside for the Cheltenham Festival in 2024!

Ok, back to today and the Midlands National.

Secret Reprieve hasn’t really delivered on the promise shown when a runaway winner of the Welsh National as a 7yo back in 2021. However, he is starting to show better form and has run well on his recent two runs. He finished second in the Welsh national trial in December and then runner up behind Rapper at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. The handicapper has dropped him another 2lbs to 132. He will love the trip and soft ground and carries a nice low weight of 10-5.

I like low weights in these marathon chases and the midlands national is over four and a quarter miles! Jonjo O’Neill has either had this race in mind all season or else Time To Get Up is on a downward trend. I am thinking the former as this horse loves it at Uttoxeter and this race in particular. He won the 2021 version off a rating of 138 and finished third last year rated 142. This year his handicap mark is down to 130 and hopefully Kevin Brogan can get a good tune from this dour stayer.
