Lawlors Of Naas Novice Hurdle Preview..
Welcome to 2025 and Happy New Year.
Naas & Plumpton have been given the go ahead this morning.
The Sussex National doesn’t appeal from a betting perspective. Instead, we target the Grade 1 Lawlor’s of Naas Grade 1 Novice hurdle at Naas.
2024 finished on a winner thanks to the well named “Win Some Lose Some“.
Last year was a winning and profitable year for followers for the Big Saturday Race Prewiew & Tips column.
A profit of +19.55 points won. There was 10 winners & 18 placed from a total of 80 tips.
A tidy profit of £977.50 to £50 per point stakes or maybe £391 to £20 per point stakes.
Butch Cassidy can strike for Henry De Bromhead
Butch Cassidy steps up in grade following his maiden hurdle win at Punchestown. He has won a bumper and hurdle race thus far in his career. Butch Cassidy did well to win at Punchestown as he didn’t jump fluently early doors and had to battle up the inside of Sermandzarak to regain the lead at the finishing post.
Shuffle The Deck was back in third and franked the form with an easy win here last month. Butch Cassidy will enjoy the softer going at Naas today following 11mm of overnight rain. He’s a big chasing type and should progress with better hurdling for trainer Henry De Bromhead with Rachael Blackmore riding.
Willie Mullins runs two in a race. He has trained the winner five times in the past ten years. Cheltenham Bumper winner Jasmin De Vaux is favourite and the choice of stable jockey Paul Townend. He has the engine but looked far from a natural at Navan when winning his maiden hurdle.
I am happy to take him on as if he jumps poorly at a couple of hurdles today his winning chance will have evaporated. Shuffle The Deck has potential but was beaten by Butch Cassidy at Punchestown. Gordon Elliott runs The Yellow Clay who made hard work of it to win at Navan on his third run over hurdles in early December.
A cracking race that usually provides us with the main Irish contenders for the Cheltenham 2m5f Novice hurdle called the Gallagher Novices Hurdle in 2025. JP McManus has bought the impressive Challow Hurdle winner The New Lion.
He looks the main English contender for Cheltenham so let’s see what the Irish have got today!
Naas 1:55
1 point each way Butch Cassidy 6/1 William Hill, Bet365 & 888sport, 3 places.
Best of Luck,
Nicky
