Enrilo has proved disappointing this season and doesn’t seem to be seeing out his races as well as last season. Enrilo idled badly in front last season when badly hampering Kitty’s Light before demoted from 1st place. I think Kitty’s Light can gain compensation today. Kitty’s Light is tough as boots and always runs a solid race. He whacked the third fence in the Scottish Grand National yet galloped on stoutly to finish runner up to Win My Wings. The handicapper has raised him 2lbs which is fair and 12lbs better off against his stablemate Win My Wings. Potterman is a danger winning last time out at Kelso and loves fast ground. Nevertheless, I think Kitty’s Light is progressive as a six-year-old young chaser and goes well for Jack Tudor. Trainer Christian Williams is well on his way to proving a Master of Training stamina into his stayers. Kitty’s Light wears first time pieces which should help him keep tabs on the leaders. If Kitty’s Light is in contention turning for home, there is no other horse I would prefer to have galloping up the Sandown Hill.
Cap Du Nord is another Christian Williams trained runner worth backing at current prices. This horse ran very well in the race last season when bang in contention jumping the final fence only to get outstayed over the final furlong. This season he carries a much lower weight of 10-7 relative to the 11-2 he carried last year. Also, Cap Du Nord has not had as hard a season before this race and we can forgive him his latest run when pulled up at Aintree. In February he beat Kitty’s Light in a valuable Grade 3 handicap chase at Kempton over three miles proving he retains his love of the game. Sam Twiston-Davies has been booked for the ride today with the fast ground ideal. Hopefully, he will see out his race better this time round as he travelled smoothly to the final fence last season only to see his run peter out. The others in the reckoning were Potterman & Flegmatik.
