A Sting in the Badgers Ale

Another cracking Saturday of racing action as the curtain comes down on the flat turf season at Doncaster. We have good jumping action at Wincanton and Aintree. Less we forget the Breeders Cup is on at Keeneland with kameko, Siskin, Circus Maximus and a few more representing the European continent in the Breeders cup mile at 8:15 .

We target the Badgers Ale Chase at Wincanton.

Just The Sting ran well when fourth in this race last season. It was his first run of the season like today, so we know he goes well fresh. Last year the ground was good to soft and his jumping up the finishing straight cost him a few lengths. He went on to win at Kempton at their Christmas meeting over three miles despite the soft ground. Thereafter, his form tailed off similar to the season before As a consequence of two poor runs the handicapper has dropped him back down to just a pound higher mark that he ran off here last season. The better ground and hopefully tidier jumping can see this son of Scorpion go well for trainer Harry Fry and regular jockey Sean Bowen

Some Chaos looks overpriced having won nicely over course and distance back in February 2019. He backed up that Wincanton win with another win over fences at Kelso the following month over 3m2f on good ground. This season he ran well at Chepstow when third before winning last time out at Kelso. The handicapper has raised him 3lbs to a mark of 142 which is justified. A flat course and good ground are important to Some Chaos who stays this trip very well. They go pretty hard in this race so stamina is important up the long finishing straight and Some Chaos is proven over this trip and further.
