A sprinter on the move at York

Royal Scotsman should prove difficult to beat in the Irish 2000 guineas if settling for new jockey Jamie Spencer. He was tempting but at a bigger price I feel we have a strong bet in the sprint handicap at York. There is a smaller than usual field of 14 sprinters as others save their powder for the Epsom Dash next Saturday.

Mondammej ran well over course and distance when fourth to regional in a similar sprint handicap. He has been dropped 2lbs to a mark of 95 which is a bonus with Cam Hardie riding again. Fine Wine drawn close by in stall 4 will provide the pace in this race and hopefully give Mondammej a good pull for most of the race. Our selections loves to hear his hoofs rattle and will enjoy the good to firm ground at York this Saturday.

Of the rest I thought Korker should run well as he finished ahead of Mondammej here at the recent Dante meeting. The handicapper has upped him 3lbs but he is in great form. Bedford Flyer finished third just behind Korker and is a danger to all too.

York 2:40

1 point each way Mondammej 11/2 William Hill 5 places else 5/1 Skybet 5 places.

Best of Luck, Nicky
