Selection Reasoning:

Champagne Classic got my eye when staying on strongly through the line at Navan behind Chris’s Dream in the Grade 2 Ten Up novices chase. The winner is a good horse who was strongly fancied in the Albert Bartlett last season. Champagne Classic was having only his second run back from a long layoff and had stepped forward from his encouraging first run behind Ballyward at Naas when in need of the run.

Champagne Classic was a really good novice hurdler back in 2017 winning the Martin Pipe hurdle before going on to Grade 1 victory at the Punchestown festival. He beat no other than Penhill at Punchestown with several top class horses such as Presenting Percy, Monalee and Al Boum Photo well behind. Champagne Classic has that all important festival winning form and will have been trained to peak for this race. He looks a very good bet at the current prices relative to the market leaders OK Corral and Ballyward.
